Enso zu is one of the calligraphic styles in Zen, in which a circle of figures is drawn with a single stroke. It is said to be a symbolic representation of enlightenment, truth, buddhahood, and the universe as a whole in a circle, but its interpretation is left to the viewer. It is also sometimes written in another Chinese character, Circle-Window, meaning "a window through which one's mind is depicted.
