eplus LIVING ROOM CAFE & DINING (3rd Edition)

Tokyo, Japan

Client: eplus LIVING ROOM CAFE & DINING

This mural marks the third iteration of an ongoing annual project created for the smoking area of eplus LIVING ROOM CAFE & DINING, in collaboration with artist Daisuke Inomoto.

While previous versions explored more colorful and layered compositions, this iteration returns to a more minimal visual language. Centered on the idea of “returning to origin,” the palette is reduced to black and white, with red introduced as a subtle accent.

In contrast to earlier works that were constructed through dense accumulations of lines, this piece takes a different approach. The composition is formed through continuous one-line drawings, depicting figures of people smoking.

At first glance, the work appears abstract. However, once the figurative elements are recognized, the image begins to shift—revealing a space that exists between abstraction and representation.

This ambiguity is intentional. The mural invites viewers to engage with it gradually, allowing meaning to emerge through perception rather than explanation.

Situated within a space of pause, the work is not meant to be immediately understood, but quietly discovered—supporting moments of reflection, conversation, and thought.
