Biography

Shinjiro Tanaka engages in free expressive activities that are not constrained by conventions, mainly using primitive motifs such as dots and lines to express his views on life and death, the connection between living beings, and human potential. Moreover, his works demonstrate a dynamic sense of rhythm in structure, color, and other elements, which he gained from his experience as a dancer.

Born in LA in 1985, Tanaka graduated from Keio University in 2008 and worked at Dentsu before moving to New York. He has utilized his diverse experiences, such as working as a Broadway musical producer's assistant, performing as a dancer with Nile Rodgers and CHIC, founding the apparel brand BSWK, and appearing in a performance of Heisei Nakamura-za in New York, in his artistic pursuits.

After returning to Japan, he worked as an art coordinator for mural projects at the art agency TokyoDex and became an independent artist in 2019. Currently, he engages in various activities, such as creating canvas artworks, murals, digital art, collaborating with corporations, and hosting workshops, all through the medium of art.
