Chaga-Uma
I was honored to collaborate on the video performance for the "Chaguma Tanabata" event at Shakujii Hikawa Shrine. It reminded me of the magical power of art to add color to those moments when the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and when people feel a sense of excitement. Thank you all!
About Chaga-Uma:
In Nerima(My hometown), there was a tradition during the Tanabata season of decorating with horses made from chigaya grass (Chaguma) to pray for a bountiful harvest. This festival has been continued at Shakujii Hikawa Shrine since 2011.

Hazama
"Hazama," which means "threshold" or "interstitial space" in Japanese, signifies the in-between spaces where different phenomena intersect and interact. It is an artistic expression by Shinjiro Tanaka that delves deep into the convergence of reality and the surreal. By skillfully integrating AI, video, and AR within physical environments, Tanaka visualizes the blending of the surreal into everyday life. This aims to provide people with a multifaceted perspective, creating a unique fusion that challenges and transcends traditional perceptions of space and experience.

Live Paint at CHUMS CAMP 2023
In 2023, which marks the 40th anniversary, Shinjiro Tanaka performed a special live painting at the CAMP event. The motto of Chams is "Let's play together!!" This event is a place filled with happiness. You can enjoy sports or play games at an American-style festival, and you can also enjoy the vast nature of Karuizawa. Eat, play, and become friends with everyone. It's a heartwarming event where everyone can enjoy themselves more casually and more happily.
Live paint during the opening party of the solo exhibition "Rebirth" in New York.
Memories and experiences from the past can have different meanings when re-considered after a certain period of time. Similarly, the human body and spirit seem to transform little by little as a kind of life and death are repeated between the time we wake up in the morning and go to bed.
With " Rebirth" as the theme of this exhibition, the main group of artworks was created by stripping and reconstructing most of the canvas works from the past. The other works, created in a wide variety of styles, suggest the broad potential of human beings.
To explain why I chose this theme, I need to share my own experience.
Until 2011, I was an extremely busy office worker, so caught up in the daily grind that I had no idea that I would ever become an artist. However, in 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake, the death of someone close to me, a sudden job transfer, and other major changes in my environment all happened at the same time, and my life collapsed, so I needed to start a new life.
After much consideration, I quit my job and moved to New York in 2012, where I spent the next five years. During that time, I came into contact with a truly diverse range of people and cultures, and my values gradually changed through various experiences. Now I live with my wife, whom I met in New York and our three children.
If there had been no painful events that I did not want to experience, there are people I would not have met, and lives unborn.Life is a mysterious thing, but it is a fact that everything, good or bad, will eventually take on some new meaning.
As of 2023, there are many disasters and conflicts happening all over the world, and many people may be in despair. The wounds of these people may never fully heal. However, I wish that the light of hope will be brought back to life, even if it takes a long time.
I hope that this exhibition will help spread some positive energy in the world, no matter how small.

Live Paint at "Future is Now"
During my time in New York in 2023, I've had the opportunity to face my own self-expression, and I'm grateful for the support and kindness of the people around me.
I'd like to express my gratitude to @kimyon333 for giving me the chance to participate in live painting @futureisnowx , and to @kosukejames for introducing me to him. As my time in New York draws to a close, I want to thank everyone who has supported me during my stay. If there is an opportunity for me to come back to this vibrant city, I would be honored if you could contact me. Thank you all for this unforgettable experience.

Roppongi Art Night 2022
I attended Roppongi Art Night 2022, a diverse art festival in Tokyo's Roppongi area. The event aims to propose a new lifestyle of enjoying art and pioneer urban development. It features contemporary art, design, music, and more across Roppongi, with various venues like Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Midtown. The event started in 2009, representing Tokyo's art festival, but was canceled in 2011 due to the East Japan earthquake and in 2020-2021 due to the pandemic. The 2022 edition had free admission for most programs and museum exhibitions, with support from Tokyo Metropolitan Government and other organizations.
OFUNA JAM 10th Anniversary
Shinjiro Tanaka performed a live painting to celebrate the 10th anniversary of OFUNA JAM. The event was originally scheduled for two years ago, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The painting depicted a ficus umbellata, which is a symbol of eternal happiness. Tanaka chose this motif because it is often given as a gift to commemorate anniversaries. He hopes that the event will continue to be a place where people can come together and celebrate in peace and happiness.
Southbank Skatepark
Shinjiro Tanaka was visiting London in 2019 to participate in a group exhibition. One day, he saw many graffiti at Southbank Skatepark. He was inspired by the intersection of skateboarders and artists, so he improvised a mural on the wall.
Art Battle
In 2019, Shinjiro Tanaka won the ART BATTLE finals, held in over 50 cities worldwide. Born in NY, ART BATTLE is a 20-minute live art event where artists paint freely, and the audience votes for the winner. Tanaka chose to challenge the vibrant norm, using only a black Posca pen due to time constraints. Despite initial doubts, he rotated the canvas, adding a performing arts aspect, winning with a unique style. His dance and entertainment background played a vital role. Practicing for the event influenced his current style, leading to increased opportunities and a meaningful experience.
